CBC-First person Article: I moved because my family moved. The loneliness of the Canadian winter was numbing

I wrote this story as a way to express that even immigrants who move to places like Canada for a “better” life there can still be aspects of home we miss however, it seemed like expressing any sort of sadness about having to leave the places we called home for so long meant we were ungrateful.

This sentiment is also reflected in the comments below the article. “ Leave” “ You’re not cut out for it” “Alberta is for doers” “You’re discouraging other Immigrants” made up the majority of the comments on my article.
